SD Resources, Inc. delivers heavy civil construction and water resource infrastructure projects that help protect communities and strengthen critical public infrastructure. Founded by owner Sarah Duensing, the Prairie du Rocher, Illinois-based company specializes in levee systems, water control structures, relief well projects, and other civil works for federal and state agencies nationwide.
As an SBA-certified 8(a) and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), SD Resources continues to expand its federal contracting portfolio. After retiring from a 23-year teaching career in 2022, Sarah turned her full attention to growing the business and connected with the Illinois APEX Accelerator at Southern Illinois University for guidance on compliance requirements, cybersecurity, and business growth strategies.
Through one-on-one counseling, SD Resources received assistance with NIST and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance, strategic networking, and positioning for larger federal opportunities. The company has since established a Mentor-Protégé Agreement and Joint Venture with Bloomsdale Excavating Company, Inc., opening the door to additional federal construction projects.
Recent work includes the Chicago Harbor Lock, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works & Flood Recovery IDIQ, Modoc Levee Relief Well Pump Testing and Rehabilitation, Stringtown Scour Repair, and the USDA Farm Unit and Prosperous Bayou Boat Ramp project.
"Federal contracting is a fast-paced industry. In order to succeed, it's imperative that small businesses like SD Resources have resources like the Illinois APEX Accelerator at SIU." – Sarah Duensing, Owner, SD Resources, Inc.
